Word Builder
Use the Word Builder app to teach phonics-based word forming.
- From the Dashboard left-hand side menu click on Apps.
- Search, filter by Literacy, or find the app tile in the list. Click on Word Builder.
- Click the 'Close Menu' button at the bottom left of the screen to enter full screen.
- Choose which sounds you want to include in your word. Note that the sounds you set will remain even after closing the app.
You can select individual sounds or choose all components at once.
- Drag sounds in the sound boxes to form the word.
- Add sound boxes by clicking the + or - buttons. Please note that adding new boxes will automatically reset and clear all sounds currently in the boxes.
- You can enable either word or image prompts. Click "Filters" to select which words you want to include based on different phonics components or sounds.
Note: Sounds you set will remain even after closing the app.
- Hide/reveal the word by clicking on the eye icon.
- Click 'Hide' to close the settings and get a fuller view.
- Enable heart words for high frequency words with tricky spellings or spelling patterns that have not yet been taught.
- Click 'Connect to Timetable' to connect the app to your timetable entries.
- Click the pin icon to add the app to your pinned apps on the dashboard.
