Word Mappers Generator
The Word Mappers Generator creates printable word mapping worksheets where students write each grapheme (sound spelling) of a word into individual boxes. It's a great tool for phonics and spelling instruction — students practise breaking words into their component sounds and mapping each one to a box, reinforcing the connection between sounds and letters.
How do I create a word mapper sheet?
Use the left-hand panel to choose your data source and settings. A preview of the sheet will appear on the right. When you're happy, tap Download PDF to save your file.

How do I choose what goes on the sheet?
Via The Hive
Select a Word Bank from the dropdown to use one of your saved word lists

Via Wordabase
- My Word Bank — uses words from your current Wordabase Word Bank. The number of words in your bank is shown below the option. Tap the word bank icon to open your word list, then tap Actions to manage it — you can add custom words, load a saved Word Bank, start a new Word Bank, and more.

- Type or paste — type or paste your own words into the text field, one per line or separated by commas, then tap Use these words.

How do I change the look and layout?
Under the Scaffold section in the left panel, you'll find these settings:
- Unique pages — set how many different pages to generate. Each page will draw a different set of words from your word bank.
- Words per page — choose how many words appear on each page.
- Page title — set the title that appears at the top of each page (default is "Word Mapping").
- Font — choose a display font from the dropdown.
- Exact number of boxes for each word — turn on to give each word exactly as many boxes as it has graphemes, so the boxes match the word's sound structure. Turn off to show a set number of boxes for every word regardless of length.
