How do I create a slide deck?

The Hive slide deck offers a wide range of features, allowing you to add various tools, lists, apps, and single slides tailored for classroom use.

  1. From the Dashboard's left-hand menu, click on 'Content.' To create your slide deck, click 'Create Item' and select 'Slides.

  1. Enter a title and hit 'Create slide deck'. You will automatically be redirected to a new slide deck.

  1. By default, the very first slide created in your new slide deck is an Advanced Slide (more information on that below!). To add new slides, simply click + New slide button.

  1. You can include a variety of tools, settings, slides, and apps in your slide deck.

Basic slide

A basic slide is perfect for title pages or for creating a simple slide with text and a background (you can change it too).

Advanced slide

An advanced slide offers greater flexibility, allowing you to change the background, add images, include multiple text boxes, incorporate your existing lists, and add various tools.

Adding tools in your advanced slide

Click the '+ Add Tool' button to explore a variety of tools you can include.

Note: Some tools have corresponding standalone options in the apps library, while others can only be added as tools within the slide. Explore our apps here.

Single slides

Alongside basic and advanced slides, you can add classroom tools and apps as standalone slides. Some apps offer their own options in the apps library, while others can only be integrated as single slides.

  1. Click 'Connect to Timetable' and select whether to link it to a specific day's timetable or set it as a default option—the slide will be accessible each time you use the option in your timetable.

To make a slide deck appear as default on specific days or as always available decks, read more here.

  1. To maximise the screen, make sure to hit 'Full screen' on the left side menu, close the menu, and click 'Presentation Mode'. Also collapse the timetable if you want more breathing space.
