How do I add student grouping rule?

You can use grouping rules to centrally manage combinations of students who should not be placed in the same groups. These rules apply across all instances of the Student Grouper app, but you have the option to opt out in specific cases if you prefer.

  1. Press on Classes from the left hand side menu.

  1. Choose the class you want to create grouping rule to and click 'Grouping Rule' and add new rule.

  1. Choose the students you want to be part of the grouping rule. You can add more than 2 students. Ensure you are choosing the students within the same class.

  1. For example, Angelica and Zoe from the K-Blue class shouldn't be grouped together since they are twins, and their parents prefer that they be placed with other children.

  1. The grouping rules will be applied when you use the Student Grouper app to randomly assign students to groups.

Please note that creating group sets (such as Reading and Maths) will not automatically enforce the grouping rules. Be sure to manually check for any students you prefer not to group together.
