Decodable Words

Decodable Words is a phonics activity where students read randomly generated decodable words. Filter by word type and sound to focus on exactly what your class is learning - great for whole-class practice, warm-ups, and targeted phonics revision.

How do I access Decodable Words?

You can access Decodable Words in three ways:

• Through Teach Mode - open Decodable Words directly from the bottom bar of Teach Mode.

  

• From the Apps library - browse or search for Decodable Words in the Apps library, or filter by Literacy.

  

• In your slide deck -  search for Decodable Words by clicking on Apps > Decodable Words.

How do I use Decodable Words?

Tap Start to show a random decodable word based on your selected filters.

Tap again to cycle through to the next word.

How do I choose which words appear?

Tap the settings button in the upper left corner to open the sound filters. You'll see a list of phonics categories - tap the arrow next to any category to expand it and see the individual sounds within it.

From here you can:

• Tap All to include every sound in that category.
• Or select individual sounds within a category to focus on specific ones.
• To clear your selections for a category, tap Reset.

Tips

• You can add Decodable Words to your favourite apps by tapping the star icon.
