Number Line Skip Counting
Number Line Skip Counting is an animated number line tool you can run with your class. Set a skip interval, start point, and end point, then watch the hops animate along the line — perfect for building skip counting, multiplication, and division understanding.
How do I access Number Line Skip Counting?
You can access Number Line Skip Counting in three ways:
- Through Teach Mode — open Number Line Skip Counting directly from the bottom bar of Teach Mode.

- From the Apps library — browse or search for Number Line Skip Counting in the Apps library.

- In your slide deck — search for Number Line Skip Counting in the apps panel on the right and tap it to drop it onto your slide. From there, you can move and resize it however you like.

How do I use Number Line Skip Counting?
Open the app and a number line will appear on screen. A summary at the top shows the current direction, skip interval, and starting number (e.g. "Skipping forwards by 5, starting at 0").
Use the settings on the left to set up your number line:
- Skip by — type in the interval you want to skip count by.
- Start at / End at — set where the number line begins and ends.
- Swap direction — tap this to switch between counting forwards and backwards.

Animating the hops
Use the playback controls at the top centre of the screen to run the animation:
- Play — automatically animates each hop along the number line one by one.

- Stop — stops the animation and clears the path, ready for a fresh start.
- Step forward / Step back — tap to move one hop at a time in either direction — great for working through each step with the class.

- Speed — choose from 0.5×, 1×, 1.5×, 2×, or 3× to control how fast the hops animate.
Display options
Use the settings on the right to control what's shown on the number line:
- Ghost path — turn on to show a faint hop line before the animation runs, giving students a preview of where the hops will land.

- Show hop results — turn on to display the skip value above each hop arc as it animates (e.g. +5 above each curve), so students can clearly see each jump.

- Follow animation — turn on so the number line scrolls automatically as the hops move along, keeping the current hop in view at all times.

- Number visibility — choose how numbers are shown on the line. Options include showing all numbers, hiding all numbers, or showing only some — useful for adding a challenge or focusing attention on the skip counted values
- Zoom — control how many numbers are visible on the line at once:
- Tap zoom in to show fewer numbers with more space between them.
- Tap zoom out to show more numbers along the line.
- Tap zoom to fit to display only the skip counted numbers, scaled to fill the screen — great for keeping the focus on just the hops.
