How do I save my own slide as a template?

You can save any slide you've created as a reusable template. Templates can be inserted as a new slide, or their content can be added to your currently viewed slide.

Templates don't need to be whole slides either — if you use a single styled text box regularly, add it to a slide on its own, save as a template, and enjoy easy reuse.

Saving a slide as a template

  1. Navigate to the slide you want to save
  2. Click the bookmark icon at the top-left corner of the slide, next to the slide settings button

A preview of the template is shown. You can toggle between saving it as a whole slide, or just the shapes within as a snippet.

Tip: you can select specific objects in your slide and create a snippet our of just those!

Next, change the title, add a category to find it easily, then hit Save. Done!

Finding your saved templates

Your saved templates appear in the Templates tab (Shift+T) alongside the system templates. They're separated into their own section so you can easily find and manage them.

Tip: use this sidebar to quickly insert snippet templates (or even whole slides) into the current page you're looking at

Using a saved template

There are two ways to use a saved template:

  • Add to current slide: Click on a template in the Templates tab to add its content to the slide you're currently viewing
  • Insert as new slide: Use the slide manager add button dropdown to insert the template as a new slide
  • Find your template in the explorer, click to select (or select multiple), then click insert as new slide.

Deleting a saved template

If you no longer need a template:

  1. Open the Templates tab (Shift+T)
  2. Find the template you want to delete
  3. Click the edit button on the template card
  4. Click delete at the bottom of the edit screen

The big tip: categories

Use categories to organise your templates so you can filter and find them quickly.

  • Maybe you'd have one for "Ready-made slides" which are fully kitted-out.
  • Maybe you'll have another for "Slide skeletons" which have placeholder textboxes for titles and content.
  • You might even have another for "App combos" which could include complementary apps positioned and ready-to-go on a single slide.

Figure out categorisation patterns that will help you save time in your practice!

Other tips

  • Templates save a snapshot of the slide at the time you save — later changes to the original slide won't update the template
  • A preview image is generated automatically so you can identify your templates at a glance
  • Save templates for layouts you reuse often: title slides, section dividers, standard activity layouts, or even just a frequently used text box with some sweet styling
  • There's no limit to the number of templates you can save
  • Templates are specific to your account and available across all your decks
  • You can filter by source (built-in/yours/both), kind (slide/snippet/both), category or text search
