How do I give access to a casual or relief teacher?
The Hive includes a casual/relief hand-off feature which allows you to provide another teacher limited access to your account.
For your security, casual/relief access is limited by:
- time - access may only be granted up to 7 days in advance
- permissions to do things in The Hive. Many of the ways that you can create/update/delete your data are not allowed. We have allowed some of the most common (and least destructive) functions that we think will be needed by a casual/relief teacher, such as making adjustments to the timetable for the day.
1. Navigate to the Casual/Relief Hand-Off page by clicking the hamburger menu on the top-left then click 'Settings'.
2. Go to Casual/relief hand-off and click the "Invite" button.
3. If you have the teacher’s email address, toggle on the "I know the teacher's email address" option. Enter the teacher’s email address and the date until which access is granted. Note that access is inclusive of this date, automatically expiring at 11:59 p.m.
4. Submit the form. An email will be sent to the provided address, with you in CC.
5. To check for bounced emails, click the "Check Email Bounces" button. This may take a few minutes to update after sending the invite.
6. If you don’t have the teacher’s email address, turn off the "I know the teacher's email address" option. Set the date, copy the code, and give it directly to the teacher for access.
7. If you need to revoke access early, use the "Revoke Access" button under the active code expiration date.
