How do I change a Tracker column type after creating it?
You can switch a column to a different type at any time, and your data for each type is preserved separately.
Changing column type
- Click the column header
- Hover over Change type
- Select the new type from the submenu

How data is handled
Each column type stores its data separately. When you switch types:
- The current type's data is preserved (just hidden)
- If you've previously entered data for the new type, it reappears
- If you switch back to the original type, your data is still there

This means you can experiment with different column types without losing any data.
Example
- You create a Text column and enter "A", "B", "C" for students
- You change it to a Checkbox column - the text values are preserved but hidden
- You check some boxes for students
- You switch back to Text - your original "A", "B", "C" values reappear
Important note
Converting to Select: You'll be prompted to set up your options after changing. The column will show your Select options going forward.
